A successful capital bid brings state-of-the-art digital lighting to the stage.

The funding will enable the upgrade to replace the previously outdated LED fixtures with modern, high efficiency models to restore lighting quality, improve reliability, and ensure compliance with health and safety standards.

Thanks to this capital support, the theatre’s main stage now features a modernised digital control system that significantly enhances the quality and flexibility of productions. Audiences and performers will benefit from brighter, more dynamic lighting, ensuring professional grade visual quality for all theatre productions and an overall improved theatre experience.

“This investment marks a huge step forward for the Theatre.”

— Johnathan Vickers, Technical Manager at Rotherham Civic Theatre

“With this new equipment we can now offer more up to date, professional-grade facilities that meet the demands of performers and productions. It's a game changer for our technical team, visiting companies, and the overall experience we can provide for our audiences, while keeping as green and energy efficient as possible.”

The upgrades will start to be in place over the next couple of months and form part of a wider commitment to cultural investment recognising the critical role the arts play in community engagement.

The Rotherham Civic Theatre team is excited to welcome performers and audiences to experience the new improvements and looks forward to an even brighter future—both on and off the stage.
